The symbol of my garden….

In many places throughout my gardens, my children and I have built inuksuks.  It has gradually become the symbol of my xericstyle garden.  My native roots come out in me in ways I don’t understand in the moment, but reflection later reveals…

The inuksuk to many, and to me, says….come here….there is goodness.  Come here….there are resources.  Come here…there is light…there is love…there is happiness…..

Just like the Inuit peoples of northern Canada build an inuksuk to say…this way is shelter, or…this way the fishing is plentiful.  I build these to welcome visitors human and otherwise.  Welcome bees and butterflies, there is nectar here.  Welcome frogs, there is shelter here.  Welcome friends, there is love here.

  2. Just beginning my journey through your archives and had to comment on your Inuksuk. Terrific! I built a small, simple, single stack Inuksuk in my cactus garden, where there are almost more “others” than cacti. Thanks for the edu so now I know it’s proper name.

Semper Fi, you have discovered the essence of life on the big blue green marble. You have clarified not only that life is good, but that your ‘roots & roots’ surely speak through your soul. Your blog is very inspiring to many whether we write back or not. You are touching others as well as our mother earth & the heavens. Your great with “dark roast” in the AM !
