Industrial chic bird bath by xericstyle…
I have been focusing these days on making my garden/homestead more attractive to animal friends, and in Texas this time of year, that mostly means providing a clean water source. The bird baths and butterfly splashes I have had my eye on are approximately $40 to $60 – so….I decided to make my own! You can do it too – for free! There are a lot of great ideas out there you can build upon to create something that suits your garden. All I did was pile rocks (you know how xericstyle loves those piles of rocks!) and place the trash lid on top ensuring it was nice and stable. I also added rocks for birds and butterflies to perch on safely.
This project has given me many more cool ideas. For a modern take…I think a few single cinder blocks underneath would look great. Even a cinder block mini succulent garden underneath. Then I thought you could even use cement or tile adhesive and “glue” glass beads all over the cinderblocks. There are endless possibilities. My next project is to affix a trash lid to a big tree stump to make another bath and then I will do the same, and also make a succulent planter.
FUN SUMMER PROJECTS! And good for wildlife too – can’t beat that!
What garden crafts have you done for your garden? I would love to see!
