More little xericstyle planters…

I had a lot of fun this morning – let me show you my latest…

This color knocks my socks off.  I first saw an Aloe dorotheae on danger garden,  and knew I had to have one.  Imagine how surprised I was when I went to the nursery for something else yesterday, a yucca jabbed through my wrist vein and I was bleeding all over the place, and then I looked over and saw THE aloe for 40% off!  Yep, it was all worth it!

I really love the way it looks like a starburst.  I planted sedum makinoi ogon underneath to bring out the funky greens.

I have had this hanging tea light holder for years and I have used it for various things – but then it came to me today while planting my aloe and sedum combo – a hanging succulent garden!  Duh, of course!  I have a ton of the ‘Angelina’ sedum already so I used it.  Gotta love FREE!  However , I may try a few different succulents in here at some point. I love seeing this hanging when I drive in the driveway – it makes me smile.

I hope you are all smiling this weekend too.  I know most of us are in San Antonio with a little rain and reprieve from the heat today.

I love it! Especially your new use for the tea lights – will they get enough water though?

    • Thanks Zeke! I think so…I hope so… If this sedum does not work out I hope to find one that will. They generally like dry soil and here in Texas a little reprieve from full sun, so I am hoping this is a good placement. Texas full sun is a different ball game than a lot of places to say the least! – xericstyle

  2. Those look good Heather! Sounds like you recovered from the yucca attack. Thanks for the tip on the sale at The Garden Center. They didn’t post this one so good to know about it.

    • Thanks so much Shirley! Actually I am not really recovered – OUCH! My wrist vein is swollen, but seems to be getting a little better. Gotta be tough to garden Texas-style, eh??!!! Have a wonderful weekend – xericstyle

  3. Love that Aloe! 40% off too, what a deal…it looks fabulous with the green sedum around it!

    • Thanks so much Loree! Yes….goooooood deal…..I am thinking I need to get it a little friend now. – xericstyle

That aloe is so pretty! I have one too – I love the combo of yellow and red! And it looks so cute with the sedum! I love your container combos.

    • Hey, thanks R! I am having a lot of fun with planters lately so it seems. TOO HOT for much else! Where did you plant your sunset aloe?
