HOT fall color and combos…

Nothing is better than October in Central Texas!!!!!!

I love the way my Texas native cholla cactus anchors the hot color of the Autumn sage (salvia greggii ‘Purple’) and Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia) swaying in the fall breeze. In the same way, this agave provides weight and structure to this area of the bed.

My current ALL TIME favorite combo in the back garden is  Mexican honeysuckle (Justicia spicigera), orange bulbine (Bulbine frutescens) , and blackfoot daisy (Melampodium leucanthum).  This bed is alive right now and really brightens my day.  The blackfoot daisy is blooming and spreading like gangbusters providing a most excellent living mulch.

What combo in your garden is your current fav?

  1. Great Combo’s, I love the colour of the Agave and the daisy looks similar to my Erigeron. Christina

    • Thanks Christina – and it totally does look like Erigeron (gotta love google ;) Have a great weekend! – xericstyle
