In all its purply glory…

I can’t have a front purple garden without an Opuntia santa-rita ‘Tubac‘, right?!  I was patient….and finally got one.  I am loving how the cooler it gets, the purpler it gets.  She is a beauty.  I am trying to decide…Hmmmmm….in a pot creating drama on this wall, or in the ground?????????????????//

My vote is a sunny pot, way out of reach! (before I took mine out, the glochids were nasty and profuse)

    • EEK! Was it that bad David????? So tell me, do you still have one or did you get rid of it? It is so pretty…I will take your advice and pick a safe spot. We don’t hang too much in the front garden, being ….well the front, so somewhere here should work well. Hopefully! – xericstyle

      • Desert Dweller

Just not cold hardy in Abq in the extreme events, but no one knew. I had (1) outside the east courtyard wall, and 4-5 on the west ledge…18″ of wet snow in 12/06 and then 0F to -11F a few times in 2008-11.

Should do great for you! Maybe in a pot painted yellow…

      • Great suggestions!!!!!!!! …and happy to hear that it should do great here…I will keep ya posted. Thanks David! – xericstyle

      • p.s. sorry to hear that you lost yours :( – xericstyle

  2. Love this! I vote for a pretty pot to offset that beautiful purple color.

    • Thanks Steph! I think a pot it is gonna be… – xericstyle

  3. Love love love love love! Seriously I have been lusting after them for so long! Surprisingly they are for sale at almost every nursery right now in the area, albeit at a rather hefty price. Maybe this year I will take the plunge.

    • Do it! Happy Holidays to me…happy holidays to me….. la la la la ;) – xericstyle
