Striking planters add living art to the front patio…
During recent heavy rains here in San Antonio I was itching to plant and get dirty but it was too wet out there. So I decided to focus on containers to fill the need.
“Rita”, my Opuntia Santa-Rita ‘Tubac’, looks like a purple goddess when paired with purple heart (Tradescantia pallida) – I can hardly wait for it to trail over the pot!
I am ecstatic to finally have a Golden Barrel cactus (Echinocactus grusonii) on my plant list – I can’t stop admiring its dangerous beauty.
I re-potted my bright orange circle pot with a trailing succulent that was dragging on the ground in another planter I had. This looks much better than what was previously in there. I like how the lighter green really jumps off the dark marshy green backdrop.
My re-purposed tea light holder has held up well with the ‘angelina’ sedum I planted in it last spring. It sailed through the summer and so far so good this winter as well. ‘Angelina’ sedum is an absolute favorite of mine. So adaptable!
To feast on more yummy foliage, head over and see Pam at digging. Her yuccas are to die for!

Very pretty, you are getting a great collection of cacti and containers. The trailing succulent looks perfect in that great circle planter.
Thanks so much Shirley :) – I kind of got bitten or something…I seem to be getting in deep with containers. I never understood their importance and function before. They add so much. I enjoyed the picture of your vintage one you posted today. I have never seen one of those…very unique! – xericstyle

Me too Louis – me too. :) My sweet hubby got me my circle pot for my birthday last year – makes it extra special to me. – xericstyle
