Neglected Mexican Plum…

image

…Blooming its head off!!!
I planted this last fall in a berm and gave it no supplemental water all last summer…thought maybe it would suffer, but it has proven to be tough as nails, and is therefore perfect for my  garden!

  1. Oh, that is awesome! And now I am gonna go right ahead and plant a MX plum in the greenbelt behind my house, because that’s what insane gardeners do when they run out of space in their own yards. /o\

    • Lori, you are so awesome! Rock on, lady!!!! – xericstyle

  2. Gorgeous! As we face Stage 3 restrictions people will need to see (so they will believe!) that these native plants can thrive in our area without extra watering. Buh-bye lawns!

    • Bye bye lawns is right!!!! …and those of us willing to put things to the test and share our results, helps all. – xericstyle

  3. Beautiful! Like that it’s blooming so early. I’ll have to look for one this year.

    • You will not be disappointed, Maria. Also, I know how much you enjoy edible gardening too, so this tree is a must! – xericstyle

  4. I had one in my former garden and loved its spicy fragrance in the spring. And so did the bees!

    • You are right! It smells divine….MMMmmm – xericstyle

  5. Time to check out the grouping of them at UTEP, since I plan to volunteer an hour or so this week on pruning / maintenance.
