Xericstyle garden survived the rain…

I am pleased and VERY thankful to report that my garden has survived the 10 inches of rain we got in just an evening last week.  I was concerned that a lot of my dry loving plants would have drowned as I have clay soil.  I guess I amended enough, but more than likely, the …

“Put a berm on it!”

Okay… so those of you that watch Portlandia are cracking up at the title, but those of you that don’t, why in the world not!?!?!? We had this problem area of the yard where a pool used to be.  It was filled in prior to us purchasing our home, but the area continued to sink, …

Rookie mistake!

Remember my Yucca aloifolia gift that I planted directly to the right of the path by the  front door?  Well…turns out that was not such a great idea.  Nothing says welcome like slicing a visitors calf open on the way to the front door – YIKES! Before:  I really loved the idea of this yucca …

Yucca Rostrata ‘Sapphire Skies’ are in the ground…

Remember my dream for three Yucca Rostrata ‘Sapphire Skies’ in the front right bed?I finally got them!  I am so excited….although they are teensy weensy.  I wish I could afford, or even find for that matter, the ‘Sapphire Skies’ cultivar mature or even trunked around here.  I was able to find some larger “regular” Yucca …

The heat is now fully cranked here in San Antonio, over 100 degrees most every day!  Although xericstyle is sweating, xericstyle’s garden is NOT.   Here are a few pictures of the garden filling in for summer. I really love this mailbox planting, AND I catch the mail lady touching the soft blooms often too! …

Japanese Tea Garden San Antonio

Mass planting mania – now that is just my xericstyle!!!   I love so much their theme of mass planting the same plant for impact.  New area, new mass planting.  It is grooooooovy.  What a magical place, and how lucky we are here in San Antonio that we can go for FREE anytime we like! …

Xericstyle’s purple/blue/silver garden is taking shape!

This long weekend xericstyle is a planting machine!  I will go until I can go no more.  I have about 50 xeric plants to get in the ground.  I am enjoying seeing my vision of a xeric purple/blue/silver garden come to life.  Spaces were waiting patiently for for me to find just the right plants …

Property Border PART 1

I officially just finished the most annoying garden job I have done to date.  I wanted to further define my garden and property line as grass and weeds from my neighbor’s yard were creeping in like wildfire with the rains this past week.  I decided to re-cycle trusty cement rectangular pavers I have used for …
