Wide Shot – October 2013

Wide shot october 2013When I started this meme, the intention was to show the good the bad and the ugly – this is certainly ugly….hopefully the brush crew will arrive later today.  This is my usual angle above.october 2013…but lets peek around so you can see what is happening this month.  No more gomphrena ‘fireworks’…and no more photinia hedge on the right side of the picture either…more on that later.

Please join me in posted a wide shot of your garden the first of every month, or anytime you get to it in the month.

  1. Wow! what did you have cut down? There’s still lots of colour. Here’s my link http://myhesperidesgarden.wordpress.com/2013/10/01/the-long-view-october-2013/

    • My husband and I removed 4 huge Photinia fraseri bushes that formed the dense hedge on the right property line. I am focusing on trees this fall, native trees to be more specific…so I was ready to have that gone, and the space freed up, so I can plant more in that corner, including another tree. I enjoyed your post today, as always. You have so much texture and levels…much to be learned! Thanks Christina! -xericstyle

  2. What a fun idea to share wide shots of our gardens! I don’t take many wide shots even to keep for my own records. That is an oversight that I must fix, so this month I thought I would join in with some wide shots of my garden. http://gardenally.blogspot.com/2013/10/wide-shots-for-october-2013.html

    • I am in LOVE with your gardens and so excited you are joining us! Thanks Ally! -xericstyle

  3. It still looks good, Heather. What’s the lavender-flowered plant growing along the border of the street?

Here’s my contribution this month: http://krispgarden.blogspot.com/2013/10/wide-shot-october-2013.html

    • Hey Kris – your side-yard re-do looks AMAZING! The lavender-flowered plant is purple trailing lantana (Lantana montevidensis). Thanks for joining in again, and for all your amazing shots! -xericstyle

  4. We have brush pick up this week too but our neighbors let us pile it in their driveway this time.

Here’s mine. More is blooming in the front for October and I added a shot of the backyard which is just waking up from summer now.

    • That was smart of you! Our guys usually come day 1 – I thought I would be safe. Ah well….I really want this meme to “keep it real” so I suppose it is fitting to have a big ol’ pile. Your salvia greggi is going gangbusters I see!!!! It is always a treat to see your lovely circle garden too – I look fwd to hearing more about your buffalo grass! -xericstyle
