My favorite combo this spring…
The star of the show is my Blue Beaked Yucca (Yucca rigida), foxtail ferns on the sides (Asparagus densiflorus var. meyeri) , a wavy sea of blue spruce sedum living mulch (sedum reflexum ‘blue spruce’) and in front a sprinkle of Texas native snake herb (Dyschoriste linearis) ground cover around stepping stones.

A beautiful combination!
Thank you, Peter!!!!! How is y’alls weather? …we need rain!!!! – xericstyle
Nice combination. I like the snake herb, which I’ve never seen before. Have you decided to give up the wide shot meme or is that pending?
I barely see the snakeherb either….when I saw it, I snatched up several. Um….shhhhh…thanks for reminding me it was May 1 ;)…seriously…. -xericstyle
foxtail ferns, yucca, sedum and what is the blue?
The sea of blue at the base of the Blue Beaked Yucca is the sedum reflexum…is that what you meant? In front of the rocks the dark green plant with the purple flowers is the snake herb… -xericstyle
Snake herb is new to me. So glad to keep learning. The combination is lovely.
Thx, G! isn’t that the best part…learning from other gardeners? I just love it too!!!!!! Cheers! -xericstyle

It is easy to see why this is your favorite – so much to love here. The colors are so soothing. I appreciate what you’ve done with the color and shape echoes alike. That Snakeherb is a stunner – I’ve got to look that one up and see if, no WHERE I have room for some.
Thank you so much! It happened slowly…this little bed has gone through an evolution of its own. According to Michael, at the Plano Prairie Garden it spreads like mad. I planted mine in an area where I think I want that…so you saying you may not have room for it…maybe the lack of deer resistance is a blessing in a way. It could take over…. -xericstyle
Spreads like mad and has exploding seed heads that throw seeds out a few feet. I have heard it will grow in shade but never tried to grow it there. Mine is in full blazing sun between the sidewalk and street.
Sigh – spoke too soon – likes full sun but little deer resistance. Looks like I’ll need to enjoy your snakeherb from afar!
Well I will take more pics of it then! ;) Great to know the research you found out, I appreciate you sharing it with all of us! -xericstyle
Oh my, what a great combo! I really like the snake herb against the backdrop of the sedum. Love the foxtail ferns even though I haven’t had much luck with them.
Thanks, Steph :) – Hey….I wonder why no luck with the foxtails? Any ideas? I like learning more about other peeps experiences…. -xericstyle
I love the different shades of green and textures.
thanks for the info on Snake Herb, a new one for me too
